Robert M Totaro was born in 1921 in Ohio, USA. He was the son of Mrs Jules Legare of Delaware Avenue Tonawanda, Erie County, New York. He resided in Buffalo Erie County, New York prior to the war and enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 14, 1941. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a “Shipping and Receiving Clerk”. It was also noted that he was single and without dependents. He was on his second mission when he died, aged 22/23, aboard the “Stars and Stripes” and is buried in Plot F Row 7 Grave 18 at the Cambridge American Cemetery (Photo B17G_19 Cambridge American Cemetery) Coton, Cambridgeshire. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
